Diamonds for the April Babies, Baby

February 5, 2006, 9:59 pm

Part of the reason I loooooove diamonds.

April Birthstone: Diamond

Birthstone Properties: Enhances competence, trust and love

Alternative Birthstone: Opal

Formed deep within the earth where there is intense heat and pressure, diamonds are simply crystallized carbon. April’s birthstone is the perennial first choice for engagement rings…

Say word.

Okay, you don’t actually have to SAY word. Unless that word is “engaged” and you’re talking about me. Or my birthday. Read more about why you need to come up off some cash for all the April babies who need Diamonds.

    Diamond Alternatives - Moissanite

    February 4, 2006, 10:02 pm

What the hell is Moissanite you ask? Check it…

… moissanite is a lab-created imitation diamond. It naturally occurs in nature and its scientific name is silicon carbide, but it occurs in very small quantities. It is only slightly less than the diamond on the Mohs scale of hardness, being 9.4 as compared to the diamond at 10.

Hey, if I end up having to choose an alternative to diamonds, I can certainly live with a man-made one, especially if it’s cheaper… more bling for me…

More about Moissanite. And while you’re there, you can always get me one for Valentine’s Day.

    That, or cash.

Diamonds : Four of the Five C’s

    February 3, 2006, 10:00 pm

I read an article the other day that said:

If you and your intended shop for your diamond ring together, become familiar with the elements of diamond quality before you get to the mall.

It went on to mention the four C’s you should consider when selecting a diamond. I say, even if you have to sacrifice on of the C’s, consider the fifth C, Conflict, above all else, and choose either a diamond substitute, a conflict-free diamond, or use a vintage diamond.

Using either of those three options, you can still get the bling without another human being coming to further harm.
